The origin of crime fiction, which, together with crime movies, is very appreciated by people, dates back to the 19th century, in particular to the publication, in 1841, of the tale The Murders in the Rue Morgue by Edgar Allan Poe. The 19th century was also marked by the birth of Sherlock Holmes, probably the best-known detective in literature, who was created by Arthur Conan Doyle in 1887. The genre has then developed and become popular all around the world, and nowadays it has retained the same appeal and charm.
